Claude 3.5 Sonnet introduces Artifacts alongside the conversation
Anthropic releases Claude 3.5 Sonnet and a preview workspace for generated code, documents, and designs.
Anthropic introduced Claude 3.5 Sonnet on June 20, 2024. The model reached Claude's web and iOS apps, the Anthropic application programming interface (API), Amazon Bedrock , and Google Cloud Vertex AI .
Artifacts beside the chat
The release also introduced an Artifacts preview in claude.ai. Generated code, documents, and website designs appeared in a separate workspace alongside the conversation, making the output easier to inspect and revise. This gave substantial outputs a place of their own instead of leaving everything inside a chat reply.
Model access and pricing
Claude 3.5 Sonnet was available on the free Claude plan, with higher rate limits for Pro and Team subscriptions. Its API pricing started at $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, with a 200,000-token context window. The release added an updated middle-tier model while leaving a choice between direct Anthropic access and cloud-platform deployment.
