Clarifai 8.2 expands text summarization and document recognition
Clarifai adds summarization models and multilingual OCR to its hosted platform catalog.
Clarifai announced platform release 8.2 on March 8, 2022. The update expanded the model catalog with text summarization and multilingual optical character recognition (OCR).
Text summaries in several languages
The additions included English summarization with Pegasus, Russian news summarization with mBART, and Spanish summarization with mT5. These models turned a longer input into a shorter text summary. The English model generated a new summary rather than only extracting existing sentences.
Text from images and documents
The update also added Paddle OCR models covering 28 languages. OCR supplied a route for reading text from documents or images before further processing.
