Dify 1.0 introduces a plugin marketplace and agent workflows

Models and tools move into installable plugins, alongside an Agent node and extensions for outside events.

By Chat Overview Published Updated

Dify released version 1.0 with a plugin system for connecting models, tools, and custom functionality to AI applications. Its Marketplace provides a place to find and distribute those plugins.

Connections become separate components

Previously, adding models and tools could require changes inside the main platform. The new approach packages them separately, so a connector can be installed or updated without a full Dify upgrade. The release also adds an Agent node to workflows, with behavior that can be defined through plugins.

Extension plugins can host custom services for events such as incoming webhooks. That gives an application a way to respond to activity outside its chat interface.

An upgrade with migration steps

Existing self-hosted installations need to move their model and tool connections into the plugin environment before completing the database upgrade. The release notes provide the migration sequence and call for a database backup before the later compatibility-changing step. The Dify profile covers hosted and self-managed access to the platform.
