Gemini 3.8 Flash launches alongside a restricted Cyber variant

Google releases Gemini 3.8 Flash for coding and agent work, while Cyber access begins through the Fairwind Program.

By Chat Overview Published Updated

Google DeepMind introduced Gemini 3.8 Flash and Flash Cyber on September 2, 2026. The standard model focused on coding, reasoning, and longer agent workflows.

Standard Flash access

Gemini 3.8 Flash reached the Gemini API through AI Studio, Google's development tools, and Gemini Enterprise. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers also received access in the Gemini app and selected Google products.

Introductory API prices were $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens through December 31, 2026. The announcement set prices of $1.50 and $7.50 respectively from January 1, 2027.

Separate access for cybersecurity

Flash Cyber was designed for vulnerability detection and automated patching. Access began with trusted defenders through Google's Fairwind Program, including government bodies, infrastructure operators, and software maintainers.

The two releases therefore had different access conditions even though they shared the same underlying model development.
