Groq announces GroqCloud and acquires Definitive Intelligence

A self-service playground, documentation, and API access open a hosted route to Groq inference hardware.

Groq announced GroqCloud, a developer service for accessing its inference hardware through a hosted application programming interface (API). The company also acquired Definitive Intelligence, whose team had helped build the service and would lead its next stage.

A self-service route to inference

GroqCloud includes a playground, documentation, and code examples. Its soft launch began on February 19, ahead of this wider announcement. The service gives application developers a way to try models running on Groq's language processing hardware without purchasing and operating that hardware themselves.

Separate cloud and hardware offerings

Groq organized the hosted service under a GroqCloud business unit, while Groq Systems would serve customers needing hardware for their own compute centers. The cloud team said its initial work would focus on capacity, efficiency, and developer access.

The Groq profile covers the hosted service, available models, and its developer access options.
