Perplexity Computer adds scheduled and event-triggered work
Automations replace Scheduled Tasks, with event triggers, remembered context, and assignments that continue across runs.
Perplexity added Automations to Computer on September 29, 2026. The feature replaced Scheduled Tasks and added event triggers and memory of earlier runs.
A schedule or an event starts the work
An automation could run on a timetable or respond to events in connected systems such as Slack, Gmail, Outlook, Linear, and GitHub. Conditions narrowed the events that started an assignment.
The announcement described examples such as a recurring competitor-price comparison or a follow-up prompted by an incoming email. Computer could use the results of earlier runs when preparing the next update.
Continuing rather than restarting
Each automation used Computer's connected files, tools, and Projects. Remembered context allowed a report to identify changes since the previous run instead of producing an unrelated snapshot. The release expanded Computer into recurring work with both time-based and event-based triggers.
