Runway introduces API access to Gen-3 Alpha Turbo
Runway begins a phased API rollout for video generation, initially focused on selected partners and large teams.
Runway announced an application programming interface (API) for Gen-3 Alpha Turbo on September 16, 2024. The release provided a route for incorporating the video model into other applications and services.
Video generation inside a product
API access moved generation beyond Runway's own interface. An application could integrate the model into its existing workflow rather than require a separate manual generation step on the Runway website. Runway named Omnicom among the partners already using it.
Selected partners first
The initial rollout focused on selected partners, particularly large teams and organizations. A wider release was planned for the following weeks. The announcement opened an integration path while general access was still rolling out.
