Dify provides a visual environment for building applications that use models, tools, and data. Applications can include agents, multi-step workflows, and knowledge retrieval, then be published as a web application or API.

Cloud or self-hosted

Dify Cloud handles the platform infrastructure and offers plan-specific workspace limits. A self-hosted installation gives more control over the environment but requires operating its services and storage. Model-provider access and credentials are configured separately from the workflow design.

Costs and licensing

Cloud plans differ in message credits, storage, team size, and workflow limits. Model calls and self-hosted infrastructure can add separate costs. The Dify license adds conditions to Apache 2.0, including restrictions on multi-tenant services and removing frontend branding. Check those terms before redistributing a hosted version.
